Easley response

Easley said he had a hole to dig out of because of big spending before he took office. Ballantine's history has been spending in good times, Easley said.

Easley forgot to mention that he helped dig the hole as Lt. Governor.

Mike Easley was NEVER Lt. Governor - he was the Attorney General. Can Republicans NOT get their facts straight?

My bad. You are right Chris.

ATTORNEY GENERAL Easley refused to negotiate and settle losing cases. Ultimately, he lost (or threw) the cases at great cost to the State. Any attorney should have known better.

Now, in his misleading ads, he whines about inheriting a deficit. That deficit was created largely by Easley. As governor, he grabbed money belonging to counties and towns, not to meet committed needs, but to fund his irresponsible campaign promises.
